First Aid for Mums and Dads

What is the First Aid for Mums and Dads Workshop?
Our First Aid for Mums and Dads workshop is a non-accredited, stress-free session designed specifically for parents, grandparents, and expectant couples. We’ve stripped away the complex assessments and national reporting requirements to focus purely on the skills that matter in the home. This course covers the “nightmare scenarios” every parent fears: infant choking, high fevers and febrile convulsions, burns, falls, and basic infant CPR. It is an informal, hands-on workshop where the goal is confidence, not a certificate.
The Importance of Parental First Aid
The first five minutes after a domestic accident are the most critical. When a toddler bangs his head on the coffee table in Cowra or a baby has a high-temperature seizure in Bathurst, panic is the biggest enemy. Parents who have practiced these skills in a controlled environment are far more likely to remain calm and take the correct action. This training is vital because it provides a “safety net” for the family. It’s about knowing when to call 000, when to see a GP, and exactly what to do while the ambulance is on its way to your home in the Lithgow region.
Why Tailored First Aid is the Perfect Choice for Parents
We know that being a parent is exhausting, so we make our “Mums and Dads” sessions engaging, supportive, and even a bit of fun. Tailored First Aid creates a welcoming atmosphere where you can ask the “silly” questions without judgment. We use specialized infant and child manikins that are realistic in size and weight, allowing you to practice the correct “back blows” and “chest thrusts” for a choking baby. We are the Central West’s favorite choice for parents because we are parents ourselves—we understand the stakes, and we provide practical, real-world advice that works in a hectic household.
Practical, relaxed course for parents covering baby/child emergencies.
